Horizon Europe is a multi-annual framework with a budget of €95,5 bn over 7 years, from 2021 to 2027. This is the biggest fund in Europe for research and innovation.
The Horizon Europe Framework provides research fundings to initiatives to improve on several fronts :
- Tackling climate change
- Helping to achieve the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals
- Boosting the EU’s competitiveness and growth in the European research area
What are the benefits of Connected Cooperative and Automated mobility (CCAM)-related research?
With various technologies that will enable driverless vehicles to communicate with each other, make decisions autonomously, drive in roads designed for human drivers and provide a safe and secure platform for autonomous applications, the opportunities for both business and society are limitless. This has the potential to bring big improvements in safety and comfort for consumers, reduced costs for business and operators, a shorter environmental impact and a better experience for all road users.
CCAM technologies are already starting to revolutionise our road transport and mobility.
In Pillar II of Horizon Europe, CCAM has been identified as one of the global challenges impacting Europe’s industrial competitiveness.
For all this, the Horizon Europe is allocating to CCAM research €500 million over the lifetime of the framework. CCAM being a co-programmed partnership with the private side allocating €500 million.
